People will opt to pay for the service through another country, or stream. They will likely not lose but win. Officially the product is just not available in Malawi.
It's frowned on by MC, but yes, there are ways to subscribe via another country. I'm sure the Malawians will quickly find out how.

Meanwhile MC may just be flexing its muscles to see reaction, I have it on good authority that they haven't turned off the public Malawi TV channel yet. Although that used to be free-to-air for anyone with a Malawian DStv smartcard so maybe they just don't care for now.
Or perhaps everyone is getting a notice period

Despite my disdain for Dstv, I believe that when governments try to dictate prices; businesses must pull out promptly. Successful countries allow the markets to dictate prices. That is why their economies are far advanced than a third world sheit hole countries like Malawi. This is the price of dealing with Gucci communists wannabes who want to steal money to fill up their already bulging bellies. Let them watch their homegrown “local content” rubbish where incessant shouting and yelling are the order of the day.
