Its official, from 01/09/2007, i am no longer tied to the evil that is iBurst.

I am now a proud owner of 4mbps ADSL!!!!!
AND... it only took 5 days to install !!! OMG.

Back to the reseller point.
I have been a reseller and a strong supporter of iBurst since its inception and advocated it to one and all. iBurst could almost do no wrong. Almost...

The first year was brilliant connection-wise, with most of us reaching download speeds in excess of 2.5mbps, not to mention the great support and personal service from the likes of Shaun Green, Ed Hall etc. Sales were good as the service was good and helped by no other viable competition (3G/HSDPA).

Year 2 the hype increased, speed still decent and service still decent too. Telkom was still ripping people another one with ADSL pricing and bad install times (still up to 16 weeks or more) so iBurst was the only alternative. 3G/HSDPA still too expensive as an alternative. Sales were excellent due to the hype and Survivor sponsorship (not helped by the bad adverts, but increased awareness none-the-less.) Support was acceptable. Accounts department still knew its arse from its elbow.

Year 3 - present.
In spite of Telkom getting its act together and improving ADSL costs, delivery time and services, in spite of MTN and Vodacom lowering 3g/hsdpa prices, iBurst INCREASES its pricing, re-introduces activation fees.
Most new cellphones are coming with 3G standard which work on any network, almost anywhere in the word yet iBurst still lock people to big bulky bright-orange modems that are essentially glowing paperweights if you leave their service. Still iBurst maximum speed (sic) is 1mbps,

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO 2mbps iBurst WE WERE PROMISED IN 2006???
WHAT HAPPENED TO IMPROVED SERVICE LEVELS?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT?
WHAT HAPPENED TO RESELLER SUPPORT?

iBurst, everything from your service to accounts, to support has gone no other way than down Hill. Your competition has upped their game and made you look like idiots.
Your resellers shield you from most of the client anger at the poor service as "we" sold iBurst to them, so "we" must deal with it and this is where your support goes down the tubes.
If another helpdesk supporter tells me to check my MTU....God help them.
Dont even get me starting on the hitler-like shaping...

I now rather try get my clients onto ADSL if they can get it and use iBurst only as a last resort.

iBurst, you have gone from Hero to Zero in just 3 years. Hopefully it takes shorter for you to go bankrupt.

</rant>

Why do you think I left even though I had a very good connection and speed was almost at max most the time.......

iburst is a "shady" company with unqualified staff mainly in the accounts department and the fact that they had access to my bank account via debit orders used to make me feel very uneasy about the whole idea of been a customer of theirs, sorta reminded me of those health/fitness clubs a short while ago that ripped off their customers with their small print conditions in their contracts leaving the customer without a leg to stand on.

I second your "hope" that the company goes bankrupt soon" before it ruins more customers lives.
This sort of company should not be allowed to exist in this country or for that matter anywhere.

Hopefully it takes shorter for you to go bankrupt.

Well given that they seem to love the R49 per month suckers I cannot imagine how they will maintain their network...

They chase away the power users (and that so happens to be the ones spending R599+ per month) to make way for the 40MB users paying R49... :D

Looks like the accounts department now runs the entire company
ROFL

I look forward to the day I see the headline:
"IBurst switching of base station X"

It will only go downhill from there.

I third vote that iburst goes bankrupt soon!

Well there accounts department is in such a mess I'm sure they will....

seems like you guys are frustrated here. Of course you would be crying due to monopoly practise if there was only one broadband provider thru ADSL in 3 years with prices going up again and excess data charges.

Short term views are always a plenty when it comes to following the lemmings over the cliff. Long term improvements take a bit longer...

When I joined iBurst it was great. Now it's crap. As soon as my contract ends I will just block their debit order at the bank, I won't even bother calling them to cancel because they'll probably just steal more money that I'll have to reclaim anyway.

This is truly the epitome of a "proudly South African" company.

I wish I had visited here before purchasing my iBurst modem. Fortunately, I did not go for a contract, so I am theoretically able to pull out any time. Of course, they ignored my cancellation "request" completely (sent the very day I picked up my modem), and just keep sending me email invoices. I have been billed for 3 months so far (August, September, October), but they have yet to deduct the money from my credit card. Terrific! It appears I am on the "you only ever need to make one payment!" plan. I suppose that way they get to charge extra for arrears.

Well here are there account details. Rather than complain that they're not taking your money, deposit it.

Wireless Business Solutions PTY (LTD)
Nedbank (JHB Business Centre)
Branch Code: 128405
Account Number: 1284100898

Use your iBurst account (WBS*****) as the reference

Atleast then you're in the right when they deduct money without authorisation.

Well, I'm glad I didn't do that, because they just debited me this weekend. I can imagine the fun I'd have had trying to get my money back from them, having overpaid. :)

Maybe all the stickies should be removed, and replaced with only one : Do not take iBurst! and inside the sticky all the reasons why... :D

For donovon:
You have to notify iburst that you would like to cancel because even if your contract is up they will still bill you and legally(i think) you will be bound because if I am remember correctly MTN cell phone contract work on the same principle. You must give 30 day cancellation notice even if your contract is up. Same goes for month 2 month users.

Even if you stop your debit order you will still be liable for the charges until you send 30 cancellation notice. Might be a fine print on there contract somewhere.

Yeah what sar says is quite true, legally you have to make the first move, it is your responsibility to inform iburst that you want to cancel or go to month 2 month after your contract expires, if you just sit back and do nothing then they are entitled to continue billing you at the contract price and then you will be tied to yet another 12/24 month contract.
