Has been what seems like many years buying NAG and PC format, smiling at the articles and reviews. One day however, checking the videos on NAG I came across a promo for GOW. I must have rerun it 100 times until it ended up on my cell as a video ringtone. The look on his face (Marcus) as he gets up from the building he dives into, I could not be more convinced that this was our man to save the planet once again.
After looking at the game spec, I could see my 2400+ AMD would be no match for the Locust so I banded my accounts together to build a weapon for this new challenge. A thing I had not been inclined to do so for the last few years. ECS 780G + 8800GT + 2gig stick with 9550 Phenom and XP pro SP3 we where off to Incredible Connection to Enlist in Marcus Fenix's team. Despite an act of God 31 December 2008 blowing all my one month old kit, insurance understood that hope runs deep and kitted me with an M3N-HD/HDMI and a 9800GT. I did the rest a few months later adding Phenom II 940 power and Cosair dominator 1066 FTW. Vista shown off Marcus in DX10 glory, blue gears tags gleaming and all. It was a battle we could not loose. Graphics overclocked to hell!
Played at the easiest level twice, maybe I lost count and every time, I understood why we battled; never so drawn in before. Little did I know that EPIC had said this wonder would never see PC. Fought through the certificate issue until it was patched and then cyked for Hardcore. I finally have done it and sat through all the credits. That silly Ramm. I am not going to go through the ache of GOW 2 PC not coming out. Piracy they say, what!, I do not have a game I have not spent a Penny on. I refuse to be reduced to an X-box, I refuse. All the careful planning to get the rig up to scratch. 965 was even in the budget and now I feel no purpose for it. Do I have to go back to Freecell.
Today is such a sad day. No amount of appeal can convince Mr. EPIC Games to do something for what I believe are the true gamers. As Ramm fell from my very last grenade, so does EPIC. I will be checking the game writers from now on and giving them a skip. There is nothing wrong with X-Box imo however, it is not for me.
