Goodbye William Nicol Drive

Witkoppen is pretty offensive. Perhaps they can rename it to Stompie Avenue. And Erling where William Nicol currently ends to Dali Mpofu Boulevard?
 
COJ is basically bankrupt and a road in the CBD literally exploded, but there is enough spare change to throw at a name change.

  • A person, organisation or event who or which was once honoured with a street name is subsequently thought to not or no longer deserve one, for example because that person later turned out to be a criminal.

But - here in Africa - we change the names to crimanals ....

Elections are coming closer. What you do not know, the people that make the street signs at a very low 10,000% markup are also the ones that donate to the ANC. You saw the photos of the people investigating the road explosion, they were white, do you think they are going to donate to the cause? No. Think Harold, think.
 
A Friend once told me that you should look at everything the ANC says or does, not from a political point of view, but with the assumption that they are a criminal enterprise and that the point of whatever scheme they are coming up with is to steal more money.

So don't waste your time trying to figure out how they could possibly think this is the right thing to do, or the best allocation of resources etc. Same goes for NHI, Eskom, SAA etc....
 
Good. The new name will fit right in. I feel offended that Dr. Nichols' name is displayed on a street in a s**thole.
 
I wonder if they can change the name... I think the road was named after him as part of an agreement.

Fitting indeed. Not that we won't just call it William Nicol anyway - anyone who's been around long enough to remember having the lights stay on all day long, that is.

Fantastic news. Can't wait to take a good, long, 5-draughts deep p!&& on Winnie Mandela drive.

And I haven't yet called on my fellow south africans to join me in this festival of p!&&ing on Winnie Mandela drive. At least for now. I can't guarantee what happens in future.
