dont think you will ever get more than 4 mbits SNR margins bordeline at 12 and attenuation is average

Yip that behind the post office here in town and that's about 700m away maybe less.

you could live geographically near the exchange and still possibly live far from it by copper length terms if the line circles your neighbourhood. highly unlikely in most cases but i've seen it happen

I have spoken to an telkom techi that knows the place well and thats the cable lenght to so main supply...
