I'm part of a neighbourhood watch and am looking for something that would allow the main members to have a shared contact list, calendar and file repository. We're currently using Excel, Excel and Dropbox. Would be great to have everything syncd on our phones (Android and Apple)

TIA

Wow, that is asking for a lot. I would be very interested in solutions offered

EDIT: Perhaps one Google account everyone has access to. Would work on Android, but I'm not sure about iPhone

Well calendars and also drive files you can already share on free Google apps so you just basically need a way to share a contact list between different people and keep it up to date. You can try this script to see if it works and report back then we can look at alternatives. You can pm me an gmail address so I can test from my side on a test group I'll add to contacts. I only have one gmail address lol.

EDIT: also take a look at this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.loudtalks

EDIT2: this assumes everyone (the main members) all have their own Google accounts.

EDIT3: you can also as noted above create a new G account eg. [email protected]. The problem with this is will not be very secure (2 factor authentication can't really be used. People will forget the password etc. etc.

Google Groups should be able to do all that (except syncing, but the web interface is good):

If you want to step it up a notch with professional tools, a huge array of features and free VOIP calling for a very reasonable fee:

Not related to what You asked, but since it's for the Neighbourhood watch, take a look at zello, it's a walkie-talkie style app for android, ios, blackberry, windows..

Thanks, we've tried that app and found WA voice notes to be more useful.

Perhaps see if something like this can be attained for local use?
