Google Chrome 8 and the cloud

haha... sounds like they are moving quickly over 6 and 7 just so that they can get to a higher number. Silly.

This is for a browser without print preview, this is not so green, since we now preview on paper.

Why not invest in improving CUPS so that we don't need to install these printer drivers or standardize the printer interfaces.

I can see 'Related Ads by Google' on the print results page soon, with printer manufacturers trying to sell you the next printer or some pharmacy trying to sell pills based of the biology assignment you just printed.

Wait does this mean we are going to have printjacking, zombie printers, print phishing, frequent printer firmware updates?

Me yawns and installs some print drivers.

Good thing there's more than one web browser available to you ;)

No they have committed to releasing a new version every 6 weeks. It's just a way to differentiate between builds. The version number doesn't really mean anything, the fact that it's a high number is totally arbitrary.

Remote desktop

Also showing up in Google Labs is the new remote desktop support capability. Also known as "chromoting", the remote support tool allows support staff to access a user's remote desktop to provide support. Not only that, but Google is promising that the tool will allow remote access to legacy applications on the PC.

For a preview of what Google Labs has in store type "about:labs" into a development version of Google. Chrome.

This will be great!!! Will make keeping teamviewer running on all my pc's a thing of the past!!

Methinks they are merging developments from Chrome OS into the browser with increasing pace. "Chromoting" is something I imagine would be shipping with Chrome OS.
A nix distribution without some form of remote access would be to say the least: odd.

So Chrome is rapidly becoming an application virtual machine. The only problem with this vision is JavaScript. Or more specifically, the performance of JavaScript.
