Google Chrome Rubbish Browser

So, I have been using Google Chrome for some years, but this year the browser just seemed to go down the tube with never-ending problems. The last straw for me was when the browser experienced authentication problems and kept logging me out of sites. Just after this I get continuous blank pages when conducting Google searches. So, I uninstalled the browser 2 months ago, now only using Edge.

I haven't bothered to install any new browsers on my new win 10 pc in the last 2 weeks or so... edge has been great :)

Doesn't work

Howzit Bud,

I've had this problem before. Just go to your chrome folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application" and rename the chrome.exe to browser.exe

If you have any shortcuts, on your desktop or taskbar before the change, delete them and create new ones. You can then rename the new shortcut as you wish. Hope this helps for you as well.

But like some once said, “If Google does not give a F@#$ about fixing their browser, why should you”, so choosing a new one is not a bad choice. There are great browsers everywhere now, and Google really is dropping the ball on chrome.

I've taken the plunge and moved over to Microsoft Edge (largely). Unfortunately it does not yet have an extensions API, so there are currently no add-ons available for the browser, which initially turned me off it. But, after finding that Ad Guard solves the missing Ad Blocker Plus issue, I'm quite happy with Edge. Unfortunately bookmarks are not synced across to my other PC, but that'll be fixed when extensions are available.

Much prefer it to Chrome, it's smooth, fast, and on an hi-res screen, it looks great.

By the way, there is a browser called Maxthon Browser which uses the Chrome and Internet explorer engine....

IIRC, Maxthon dropped Trident as the default and replaced it with Webkit, which is more standards-compliant. Trident is only used now to render sites that don't like, or don't function in, Webkit.

Back OT: OP, you could always try Vivaldi?
