Google Chrome versus Firefox

Google’s Chrome Web browser is gaining ground on Firefox, and according to one industry tracker may even have eclipsed its open-source rival in the global market.

Was a fan of Firefox for so many years but it keeps crashing on me. Now I use opera mostly because of opera link. But use chrome also

This is the one and only reason Chrome beats firefox: Firefox takes like 40 sec to start on my PC. Chrome takes 1 sec.

It doesn't just open faster. It loads sites faster, looks better and uses less resources.
Firefox may be faster than IE but its still a pretty annoying browser.

Firefox has been brilliant untill recently. The plug-ins are great and allows you to do many things like download videos from youtube and other flash sites in a matter of seconds.

But this very plug-in feature has become it's worst enemy. Either it's Firefox or Adobe that has made a mistake somewhere because ever since these latest releases of firefox the plug-in container crashes the whole time or causes firefox to pause/hang for a couple of seconds.

Chrome used to be wonderful, but now takes 15 seconds or so to load. Probably a Windows or hardware problem but I don't know where to look

The Google+ reminder on top is a bit of a pain. Even though I signed up, the reminder is still there. Google+ seems pretty weak to me. Very few responses at all

I thought it was just my set-up. Firefox also crashes too frequently. I stil have both on my system but Firefox is used less 10% of the time.

FF is just the new ICQ. At first it was fast, lean and decent now it's nothing more than bloatware.

I think that some of that delay is due to loading a lot of plugins on FF,
and that part of the reason for FF's decline is due to the changes in version 4.0 onwards.
It seems like both FF and IE want to copy Chrome's tab layout and are doing it poorly.

I just installed Chrome in Ubuntu 10.04. After four tabs I'm on 200mb memory and my cpu doing a bit more work than usual. It did load in 1 sec, but my guess is there is something running to allow it to start up faster. Websites didn't load faster, it just look like it because of how Chrome load pages.

Firefox on my system start in 10 sec and is fully top-to-bottom customizable. I was unable to load Chrome apps page in order to test drive Adblock and other add-ons (no images/buttons load). I will attempt round two tomorrow and see how customizable it is - if I get those damn ads blocked.

So the working, fast (but very basic) bowser, versus the slow, hipster one that needs 17 million plugins to do anything and crashes all the time, versus the basic and slow one.

Why is everyone in the world not using Opera yet? The fast, working, most-functional one that never crashes and has working cloud sync?

Chrome is the most useful and awesome browser ever.

I use the MightyText Chrome plugin daily (send sms from your browser, your phone can stay in your pocket) Chrome-to-Phone (send any web link e.g. nice wallpaper link straight to your phone, Gmail checker, etc. Just too many to mention.

There is just no other web browser that can compare. ;)

Yeah, Opera Link automatically syncs links, favourites, searches etc between any devices you use it on.

Without plugins.

Funny you should mention this, didnt they get the idea from Chrome's sync function? Bookmarks, passwords, filled in forms, etc.
