Google Chromecast or Android TV box

Get a Android TV Box that has chromecast integrated. The ones I know that have this is the MiBox, LitBox and Skyworth Binge. The Skyworth Binge should be cheaper than a Google Chromecast device.

These boxes have Google assistant built into the remote. So you can control apps etc on the box by pressing a button and speaking. The home mini/nest mini will do the same. Unfortunately some of the features in Google home will not work in SA as the speakers are still unsupported here by google at this point. For instance YouTube Music will not work if you want your assistant to play on your speaker.

If you are looking to just controlling your smart TV with google assistant, maybe look into a Broadlink RM pro (Its like R400), it stores your IR/RF remote codes (TVs, Blu rays, aircons) . So you store your TV remotes' buttons onto the mini then use an app like "If this then That"(IFTTT) to integrate the Broadlink RM with google assistant. Then you speak to your google nest speakers to control these devices. Basically, replacing remotes with your voice.
