Google Chromecast unveiled: cheap, versatile content streaming device

If you own a Samsung Smart TV, this casting facility has been available for some time between the SmartTV's Youtube app and the ones on IOS or Andriod (once paired).

Cool but not that useful in SA, it doesn't push local device data but rather streams over the internet. Youtube support is nice but the other play store content like movies and music won't work here

Anyone managed to order one? Amazon, playstore, bestbuy ebay? ANYONE!!! CAN'T GET MY PAWS ON ONE AND I NEEEEEEEEEEEED ONE NOW!

Just last night my media server decided to call it a day and my DVD/TV player said WTF is this 32 GIG USB thingy and what do you expect me to do with this MKV?

I ended up converting the movie I wanted to watch to AVI and hunting for a 2 gig USB, that was 2 hours wasted, now if I had above.....

I know the feeling...

I'm not sure what I'm missing here. My PC is already hooked up to my TV and my HTPC is controlled by my iPad and it's been working pretty much exactly as it should for a while now. There are already Android USB sticks out there that will also do exactly this. It's interesting but I'm not that much blown away by it.

Not the most descriptive article, but I think that it gives a bit more insight into Chromecast.

Can this mirror an Android device's screen onto the TV?

/if not then meh

As in the homescreen?

Just mirror an android screen like this Samsung device... (basically HDMI over wifi).

I want to be able to hold the phone but see the screen on the TV via wifi. Could be a fun way to play games like NFS (phone would act like a controller).
