Nope.

These days they do not even give you your registration fee back. The domain is ordered to be transferred to them and that is that.

A huge waste of money for the person registering it. But at least they can say they owned google.co.za for a short period of time.

Google appears to have failed to renew the registration for google.co.za, and South Africans trying to access the search engine through its local domain are receiving an error message.

Domains are renewed annually, with some registrars allowing customers to renew their domains several years in advance.
