Google 'death penalty' for BMW site

Hmmm...

Probably how they get to charge you what they do for the car. But... good marketing is part of the deal right? I mean... you can get a BMW 1 series hatchback for more than a Mazda 3 right? And we're all convinced that the BMW is the better car right? Ask any Mazda 3 owner ;-)

I will buy the badge!

Well every man and his dog now has a BMW thanks to the 1 series and compacts, and the fact that they lose a lot of value when you drive out of the showroom.. not as many Mazda 3's and 6's around and they're not too bad looking.

BMW and the rest

BMW 1/3/5/6/7: ugly from every angle, designed by styling guru on acid.

BMW X5: hopeless offroad, very good on the road.

BMW X3: utterly hopeless offroad, and not much good on it.

Mazda3: not worth getting into debt for.

Mazda6: why is it called 6? It doesn't have six of anything, only four cylinders and 5 gears.

BMW E39 (5 series from 1996 to 2003): the best car ever made by BMW or anyone else.

BMW E46(3 series from 1999 to 2005): the second best car BMW ever made.

Ford: Ka/Fiesta/Focus pretty good. Mondeo very good, but buy it secondhand. They depreciate faster than the Titanic.

Mercedes-Benz: not nearly as well-made as they used to be.

Nissan: Micra and 350Z look tempting. Rest is junk.

Honda: the BMW of the 21st century?

The rest? I don't care.

.

Don't trust BM's give WAY to many problems, ask almost any BM owner... unless of course you've got a 645Ci or something.

Merc... don't know what happened... they use to be so solid... now they're more plastic than anything else.

Nissan, 350 is nice, Micra is stoopidly designed, no space anywhere. I bought an Almera 2002 lux, done 170000km's, not 1 problem, 700KM's to the tank, good performance, with all the features.

BMW has made quality cars (engines) for quite a while. They are reliable and last a life-time. Ask any BMW owner!

I never really liked BMW's until I drove one (325i - dolphin shape). I eventually bought it! I've met a few people that didn't like BMW's (like my g/f). After driving it a couple of times, she loves that car more than I do!!

I've never had any trouble with the car except the water-pump and the clutch that broke (after 10 years).

VW Golf/Polo 2005/2006
Well priced
Good overall cars
Very reliable
Well built (no cheap plastics)
Very little depreciation after leaving the floor
I haven't had any problems with the Polo Playa 1.6 (petrol version) - rumours that turbo's in the TDI's not so good.

I've spoken to 7 BMW owners:

4 Love thier cars but the maintenance and repair costs are sky high (2x 3 series 1x 5 series 1x old 3 series)
1 hates his car because it's always broken (old box 3 series)
2 are happy with thier car all round (645Ci Convertable & X5 2005 model)

My first Beamer was second hand and the second was brand spanking new. Both of them 3 series. I never had problems with either. As far as I'm concerned there are only two cars, BM and others...

I've come to the conclusion... BM owners are just like Apple Mac owners :D

South Africans in general - the car is an extension of the ego.

I'm not knocking BM owners btw. Just BMs ;-)

Naaa - actually I just sat wondering what to do the other day and saw this can of worms just waiting...
