Hi Guys,

Is there a way to index an external drive using Google Index. Ideally would like the drive to be indexed and the index to reside on the drive so that I can search for files from any PC as long as I have Google Desktop.

Thanks

As an alternative (although I'm sure someone else here will be able to give you an answer) I'd recommend trying this very awesome and eye-bleedingly fast search program called Everything

It's very quick to index all drives connected to your PC (literally takes just a few minutes) and when you need to search for something, the results are practically instant. Very useful tool, I can't live without it now :D .

Open Google Desktop in the browser, click on Desktop Preferences (next to search box), click on Desktop Search, scroll down to location and add your external.

I do it with my external as well as with our servers at work :erm:

OK Thanks.

I see it has started crawling through the drive.
