Google developing free Dropbox competitor

I also have a .edu email address, but I currently sit at about 6.4GB as everybody I know already use Dropbox. How did you go about successfully inviting so many people (32)?

I invited everyone at work, my family all my friends. That was about 50 people invited, not all joined as yet, plus the dropbox link in my signature here brought another 5 or so invites.
