MTN sure its streaming service will work this time

Nine years after shutting down its VU streaming video platform, MTN has launched One TV, which the mobile operator has assured will not meet the same fate as its predecessor.

The company announced the launch of MTN One TV in June, a video streaming service it says will expand access to digital entertainment to more people in Africa.

MTN and their buddies over at Vodacom have been trying for years to have streaming data billed at high-than-normal costs. They think they're entitled to free money because people use their platforms to stream.

No doubt when this launches you're going to see something like Free data for their platform to stream, and/or more expensive data to stream Netflix etc. I know they probably can't get that through the relevant Regulators but with enough bribery anything is possible...
