SABC bringing back old shows on streaming service

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) wants to generate additional revenue by making its old content available on its SABC+ streaming platform, reports Rapport.

SABC CEO Nomsa Chabeli recently told Parliament that major streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video generate revenue from new and old content.

Would love to watch Die Nutsman again and see how right/wrong he was now that I am far older and wiser..

Would also love to catch Die Kompleks again..

First movie I ever saw, dubbed in Afrikaans, was televised on SABC in 81 or 82
Scared the sh*t out of me. Seems they dubbed a lot of failed pilots

I'm sure this was punted like 10-15 years ago already, what happened to those "plans"?
The streaming aspect..? Because I know that you can( or used to be able to around 10 years ago I enquired) contact the SABC and order some older stuff from them on DVD, perhaps what you are referring to..?

problem at the SABC is they are still stuck in an old mentality of people must choose to watch us vs all the international shows and the internet that is available, they will find that choice being made for them

good example is the US version of Survivor, still remember SABC 3 (I refuse to call it S3) showing reruns of that, 2 seasons behind the current one, where anybody with a casual Google will know who won,

so whats the point of that?
a bigger draw would be for them to simulcast or show quality stuff same time or delayed by 24 hours that show, as it airs on CBS

just using Survivor as an example, but it proves my point very well, for them to actually get people watching them, and not switching to all the entertainment that is free and easily accessible, they really have to up their game.

SABC needs to move with the times, otherwise, they are just like BOP TV/ Zimbabwe TV or any other african state national broadcaster, that nobody even hears about, where its mostly Government propaganda,

anybody either streams, or downloads from the High seas and watches that, and they wlll find it difficult to compete with that.
