So my employer blocks Google Drive from syncing, apparently for security reasons as well as wanting to force people to use their own lame cloud. I can still access Google Drive from the web so that works, but uploading files to my Google Drive is now a schlep having to browse through folders to find whatever I want to upload. I really want to drag files, or "right click send to" files to my drive.

Is there a work around?

thanks

Yes, don't do it. There's a reason it's blocked so circumventing puts you up for dismissal as it's willful insubordination.

Of course there is a work around... find a different job.

Be thankful they haven't blocked the web front end... I would have.

Three words:
DLP - Data Loss Protection

Why do you want to upload company data to Google Drive? Corporate Espionage?

yes I now have to steal the data using a flash drive, fortunately they haven't disabled the USB ports

Absolutely not.

Nothing is ever that black and white in real life.

In an ideal dream world I agree.

Actually it is. A company has full rights to whatever is done on their equipment. If you want to work on personal stuff, use a datacard or personal wifi device.

Nope.

That totally depends from Company to Company.

Web
OPTION 1: Drag and drop files into Google Drive.

OPTION 2: Use the file uploader.

Note: To upload entire folders, you'll need the latest version of Chrome.

Go to drive.google.com.
On the left, click New.
Click File upload or Folder upload.
Choose the file you want to upload. Tip: To select multiple files, press Ctrl (PC) or ⌘ (Mac) and click all the files to upload.

You'll see a window with the upload status. To open the file, click the filename. To close the box, click Close.
You can upload folders and it doesn't have to be root folders aswell (can be folders with folders within folders). Works best on Chrome.

Thanks for that. Drag and drop works in Firefox, YEAH!.

(The company is also forcing us into having the company's webpage as homepage in Chrome and I need my 7 tabs of favourites as homepage when I open my browser. So I'm using Firefox.)

Pin a tab in place
If you don't want a particular tab to be moving around, you right-click (or control-click, on a Mac) the tab and select Pin tab.

A pinned tab will appear on the left side of your browser window. Unlike your other tabs, it will be smaller in size and only show the site's icon.
What I also love about pinned tabs is that even if you close the browser and open it again the pinned tabs will still be there.
