Google drive mounted in Windows/Linux

It was a damn good run though.

Yeah it was. So, they change the drive to read only after the grace period. I see people say 2 years after that they delete files not sure how true that is but at least you can still access the saved files while in read only mode which means it's not as bad as losing complete access.

I'll probably also keep my account in read only for a few months to migrate some of the stuff to local nas.
If I remove all my "multi media" the 5tb should be enough for my important backups (HA, docs, photo's, etc.).

defnitely a good run. hope the read only grace period remains for a while -> plan might be to build a new NAS with latest drives, but current zuma/ramaphosa/putin actions are really making hardware procurement a pain in the butt.

but if another option pop's up, lets help each other!
So far, dropbox seems like a possibility, but not getting good vibes ( need to contact their support and beg for additional space)

If you need cloud storage now you can use https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/dev-program

I think it's also on borrowed time as people will start to flock to it and eventually it will likely suffer the same fate.

Yeah, that's a decent offering but liable to disappear with virtually no notice. Another option is to use Office365 home subscription which gets you 6TB for R1299/year (effectively R108 pm).

That is also a good suggestion.

There aren't any other options really. None which cost 13.25 Euro like my Gsuite account

I can get my hands on some old VNX's and 3Par units we took out of a few customers with couple 100TB's of storage. problem is power and cooling.

That is also one of the big issues hosting locally.

1. Connection
2. Electricity bill
3. Loadshedding

I actually logged on now and see they cancelled my trial.

This was the email they sent me last month

I do see that the onedrive data I uploaded to test is no longer visible.

I had my sub from 2021 and Microsoft auto renewed it from the time I had it. I didn't do anything on it and just kept the account as a back up incase I needed it.

Can you share details on the look books? I'll try to sign up again and have it as back up for Google.

Just go to office.com and login with your Dev account and launch the Sharepoint app and create a site which is a lookbook basically. I just created a few private ones and didn't have an issue. Delete after a couple of months and on a different user launch one again.

I also gave the login details to some family members to use the free office 365 software. Maybe that is also counting as activity?

Lol and I thought I was taking the piss with 30tb :)

Was going to say just buy more accounts at 5tb shared per user but yeah...

Yeah, that was the only flag I set when copying. Working like a charm :)

I was able to get my Google organisation storage up to 50TB with 5 users. It looks like its 5tb * users if you ask them to increase the storage for free. My ticket asking for more is still open, but I'm pretty sure its a lost cause. Not sure what will happen when I reduce my users back down to 1. I suspect it will drop down to 10TB. I'll probably continue to pay for a single user until they start deleting the content

Its probably time to start expanding the local unraid nas again. Currently got 2 x 16tb drives in there (1parity & 1 storage). All of the streaming services (Showmax, crunchy, prime video, netflix, apple+, netflix) will probably be cheaper then dropbox (and Google) with hetzner server (was need for transcoding plex). If that doesn't workout I might look baconfeet/elysium alternatives.

I'm lucky I didn't receive the email yet but onedrive is an option as well as just using realdebrid.
