Google ends more experimental services

I've used Wave in the past, quite liked it. Does anybody know of an alternative?

So sad to see Google ending all these projects, company is really changing it seems.

They need to kill the stuff that doesn't work so that they can try new stuff. No use in keeping things going if no one is using them.

They have killed a lot of projects that people were using.

Gears is quite good as it saves a local copy of your gmail so access times are faster and you can check mail with no internet connection

I kind of get this feeling that Google wants to take over the Internet world by offering almost everything (Google+, Music, etc).

There are just some things that google cannot take over like Facebook and iTunes

Yes Apache Wave and Walkaround from their official blog they give you alternatives which is very nice.

That is what HTML5 is for and why they migrated to that :-)

Well of cause. They want to rule the interwebs and the desktop/cloud space as well. It's gonna take time to take over Facebook but Google + is getting better almost weekly. And Google music gives you free space which is a plus as well. Now they just need to release Google Drive or gDrive (just a matter of time) with enough free space and they will own everything.
