Google Glass test group picked

I just hope they do not follow there known (by invite only) method for getting new users.

Or worse, kill the product in a culling session(Nexus Q) before we even get to buy one here in SA :D

Doesn't matter. They've proven it can be done. Somebody else will do it.

Too expensive for my taste

For the dev models out now, I can agree, but we still do not know what the final price will be when released to the mass market.

Also seeing that others are in the process of releasing competing products I am sure it will drop after the release as well.

Those things will make you look like a complete dork.

Reminds of that guy on star trek, the one that was blind - Jordy

They estimate the retail price to be $1500, thats over R10 000. And that for something to browse the internet and a few other features that can be fitted into a R800 Galaxy pocket (for instance).....and not to mention the wearing and looking like a dork part.

These are going to be the tech flop of the decade if they continue to label it as market changing. They have an application but they are not the next big thing!

Don't get me wrong I am more forward thinking and adaptive than most when it comes to tech . I also believe I have a small degree of understanding in novelty/change with respect to psychology and also consumer buyer behaviour, having read up on the former and qualified on the latter. However the real world applications of these glasses is limited which does not represent mass market interest, especially when factoring in the cost. Also given that it honestly looks ridiculous to wear and won't be socially acceptable in most circumstances no matter how you market it I don't see this thing getting off to a flying start either, or at the very least dying down pretty quick once the hype is over.

Voice activation is also a point of contention. You cannot be expected to talk to yourself on an ongoing basis and be taken seriously.

The next big thing in computing, and I can't ******* well stress this enough and I'm quite tired of this now, is one mobile device for all. Once mobile processing capacity gets to that point of course.

Augmented reality on the other hand might be ok if it could be adopted into contacts lenses or normal looking glasses and shades that are nowhere near as obtrusive as these glasses. Or DART OS chip embedded in your brain powered by adrenalin connected to global corporations and data banks providing live streams of information and personal enhancements, if you know where I'm coming from :D wishful thinking :p

Just my 2c, could be wrong.

I know this is just a test group bla bla bla. But this is the usual trick Google pulls to get people to want something. I bet at some stage they'll add some more test groups. People want what they cannot get. This creates hype.
