Google+ , google goes social

I agree, the circles concept is a winner, the thing of "friends" being like fast food ends here

Nothing to write home about. If anything, it's just more of the same, but marketed differently.

Another one here with invites.

Here's a summary for you:
Pros:
It's not facebook.

Cons:
It's not facebook.

That's it, really. The circles (groups) concept is really nicely done, as is hangouts. I don't have an Android phone, so I can't use Huddle. Give Google time to get the APIs out, and it could be what Buzz/Wave was meant to be. I'll give it this: it has been thought through, and is well presented (for a Google app).

Thanks for the invite Raith... ;-)

Already sent out a bunch of invites as well. Seems really cool and calm there, for now at least. Will check out Huddle soon as well...

I deactivated my FB account last month. I had enough of 'friends' posting all sorts of carp on my wall. It's fine if it's friendly chat or banter, but it was getting too vulgar and potentially offending other family and friends reading through my account.

From what I have heard you can create 'circles' in which you can ring-fence certain users into your own groups. That sounds interesting.

I was concerned about FB's privacy and I do not need to be worrying about that. It just wasn't simple enough to maintain the levels of privacy I was interested in.

Google+ certainly looks interesting and will be giving it a whirl when it goes out of Beta.
