Google just enabled RCS by default for all Messages users

This is a major departure from the old RCS enrollment process that prompted users to enable the feature and sometimes required registering a phone number manually. Now, enrollment will happen automatically and silently in the background.

It may not have the user base of a service like WhatsApp, but Google Messages is finally looking like the true iMessage competitor we've been asking for on Android.

No-one uses SMS messaging outside of the USA for chat.

The majority of people worldwide use wechat, whatapp, line, facebook messenger or other regional variant chat apps.

It's only the US that uses RCS, and thats really Google trying to take on Apples iMessage more than anything else.

It's irrelevant for most oversea's.

Nope,on or off as needed .use it during the week daily .

You're on my ignore list for good reason.

Quote - "Outside the USA, it's a non-issue, since WhatsApp won. Why isn't Google lobbying Meta to add RCS to WhatsApp?"
