Can it be true & even possible for Google keyboard app to do this - seems illegal?

or

Am I safe to use this app?

Yes of course it's possible. Any app that purports to be a keyboard can gather your keypresses which will include passwords etc. You need to ask yourself if you trust the app's publisher

So, do you think it's ok to use this app?

Android is Developed by Google. So a Keyboard Developed from the same developer is fine. I have more Trust in GBoard than SwiftKey

Is it illegal however if you give consent (Which you do by clicking "ok")?

It is vague when using such words. Legally it means you don't give them a consent to collect your passwords.

As for the OP question, it is just a message from the OS warning you that application will receive special rights which normal applications do not have. Trust it or not, it is your choice. You have to have some keyboard application active anyway.

You must be a lawyer, let me ask you this, legally, agreeing to the terms and conditions also means you didn't actually agree to the terms and conditions? Am I correct in saying just because I signed a contract of sort I didn't automatically agree to all the conditions attached to it?
