Android 13 launched — Here are the new features

Google launched its Android 13 software update on Monday, offering several new features, including extended app colour theming, per-app language settings, and better privacy controls.

Notably, the company bucked a trend where it typically rolled out its annual update with the release of its new flagship Pixel smartphones.

Another update with the main innovation being something like the way the letter "O" curves slightly deeper where it is used in the name of a app...

My thoughts are that only the "Android One" program phones that fall within the 3 year released date and the latest will receive this update.

I cannot see that the NON " Android One" devices receiving this update. The would force you to purchase a new device unfortunately.

Only really Nokia Android One phones and I'm not a fan of their reliability.

Each to each own, I have had 2 of those and currently using my 3rd one with extreme reliability. It really functions well without the other bloat ware "sugar and ice tea" brands. When you have used Windows 10 Phone OS which ended production, the obvious choice is clean pure Android One or a new Pixel phone. The Windows 10 Mobile did not require Apps to function, the baked in browser did that well enough for my daily use.

Weekly poll results: Most of you are excited about Android 13 as long as your phone gets it

Android 13 is an exciting update for most users according to your answers to last week’s poll. The majority of you are eager to test out the latest version of Android with its new Material You customization options and new security features.

Sadly, nearly 26% of respondents say their phones won’t get Android 13. OS fragmentation is still one of Android’s weak points and plenty of devices launched in the past two years won’t receive the new update at all. For the rest, the update is either several weeks or months away depending on the manufacturer and class of device. Some makers like Samsung are faring better than other in terms of bringing timely updates for their devices and we sure hope more will catch up and hopefully even overtake the Koreans in the year to come.
