How do I measure a distance on a path as Google map only measues distances on roads (walking option). The scale at the botton is 20m, all I can think of is taking a piece of string and holding it above the map. Any ideas

First pan/zoom to your area of interest.
Click on My Maps, then Create New Map.
then you'll get a toolbar on the map display area (top left) to add pins, polygonal areas and lines to your map. Use the line tool to draw your route, double click on the last point and you'll get a summary with total route length in km.

Mapsource calculates the route from my house to a mine site outside Rustenburg as 1:47. Google Maps calculates the duration around 2:25!!!

Been waiting for this a LONG time!!! Tested route planner on my iPhone and it's finally working!! Thanks Google and everyone involved with doing this!! Now let's get streetview

awesome - super fast. and works great on my HTC Hero. and with Android 2 just around the corner, i'll soon have full on Google Maps Navigation http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation - can't wait!

The maps are a bit outdated, by at least 3 or more years. Development that was completed 3 years ago shows nothing on the maps or the satellite.

Google Maps Business Listing totally dysfunctional

I've been trying for over 24 hours to list my business on Google maps. What a PAIN in the @SS!!!!

1. Add a picture, you have to go to submit, then edit to go back....
2. SMS verification doesn't work, and that is across Vodacom and MTN
3. I just tried three times with the phone verification. Didn't work once, and I recorded the calls to make sure I didn't miss anything on the poor-quality calls...

Maybe test it before you re-launch...
