I wonder which navigation program running on a mobile phone would you choose Google Maps or Garmin XT or Garmap for Mobile Onboard / Online?
Your valued views will be appreciated.
Tnx

GMXT can be used anywhere, does turn-by-turn navigation, stores location of contacts in Outlook, and needn't use an internet connection. Very similar to a dedicated gps. You pay once for the (maps) licence.

Google maps, Bing mobile and others like Beeline and NoniGPSPlot require an internet connection. You pay for the data link.

If you're anything more than an occasional ad hoc user, get GMXT or TomTom.

Garmin XT has been discontinued by Garmin as the final update 2010.3 and replaced by "Garmap for Mobile Onboard OR Online", sold on Micro SD card @ an annual cost of ± R600. Garmin XT was a USA product versus the "GARMAP for Mobile" a local company version.

Those poor persons who own Samsung i780,i900 and i8000 phone which were sold with Garmin XT “GPS + Garmin navigation for life solution” now will have to pay ± R600 per annually if they wish to maintain accurate navigation inspite of the FREE FOR LIFE promises by Samsung Electronics SA (Pty) Ltd
SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG AND GARMIN.
