Google Nexus 4

Wow, it would appear that they are not confused. 10x Nexus 4 coming in.

Although a few things:
1.) He says "ordered and paid for". That could mean he's waiting on Google Play to fill his backorder, just like 100,000 other people.
2.) Doesn't mention whether its 8GB or 16GB.
3.) If they didn't source them from Google Play, the price is surely going to be high considering the only other place they could have been bought is retail (like Carphone Warehouse), and the RRP is £400.

In any event, it is impressive that they have managed to get some and I am sure they will sell.

I hope that it's less than R5.5k at least

I'll be upset, having just paid that. :(

Then again, chances of me getting one of those ten? Slim to none.

Well, there's some dude on MyBB selling them for R6,250. Not interested?

Its not entirely impossible that Esquire managed to get in on the first batch of Google Play stock, in which case it will be a lot cheaper.

IIRC they are 8GB models. Im looking for 16GB

Well I'm getting messed around with 'my' N4 from the States. I reckon they gave 'mine' to a higher bidder and now they are waiting for the orders to be fulfilled or even open again.

I'm in it for R2k at the moment and was offered it back yesterday (cash in his hand) but I said I'll hold on for a bit

Ffs i just want one of these phones :(

Google are poor in how they prepared for this. Honestly, a sub R4000 hectic smartphone and they dont anticipate this amount of sales is poor judgement and planning.

Or its brilliant marketing

I can think of a few reasons. Marketing is not one.
- Google brand
- Affordable
- Only phone with Android 4.2
- Existing android users will know the pain of handsets that cannot be updated to the latest OS so will go for the Nexus that will be updated.

I think high demand is only partly to blame.

Limited stock will be destined for Google Play where the device is subsidised. The RRP of the phone is a lot higher than $349.

It's also a Nexus

I don't dispute that, from your earlier post you were referring to the nexus 4...google brand, affordable, only phone with 4.2 etc.
Just thought I would correct that for people who may not be aware.:D

Just did a check now, you can get a Nexus 4 8GB for R5.3k from Amazon.com

For those that do not want to wait...

I think I'll wait another month or two, prices will go down soon enough.

8GB Nexus is out of stock again
16GB is in stock but ships in 6-7 weeks...

Getting my hands on one of these is going to be harder than I thought. Initially I thought things would have died down by February but at this rate I don't know anymore

Sausiness
