Google Nexus 4

Almost all phones do that nowadays - its part of the camera mechanism, nothing to worry about

Apparently got something to do with the vibrator motor. I thought the motors were packed in the battery packs...

So i want to buy a Google Nexus 4 in Australia, got a friend living there that will receive the phone and send it to me via Air mail.
Im still in South Africa. What i want to know is, if the phone arrives here, will customs charge me any import duties ? even if i ask my friend to open the box of the phone to make it a 'old new' product ? or can he just send the phone with his own packaging ?

I think it depends if you get lucky or not. My Father, in the UK, sent it to me in the original (Opened box, as I got him to check if it was working) box, and I didn't get charged any VAT or duty. It was listed as 2nd hand electronics.

However, he has sent stuff to me in the past that did attract VAT & duty.

Does anyone know what the Nexus 4 is going for in the UK (on Play). A friend is coming through soon, and if its cheap i'd like to get it for my mums.

I'm there just now...

8gb is £240
16gb is £280

Second hand prices are also still very high. I bought a 16gb on Tuesday from Gumtree for 240 as I'm not sure I had time to get it delivered before I leave early on Monday.

Ill give it a shot with an open box, thanks !

Thanks. That's not crazy cheap, but i think i'll get the 8gb

If you can afford it, rather go for the 16GB. You don't get 8GB free space, as the OS comes out of that. I don't know the exact figures, but, I think you get 5GB.

I have no media, reasonable amount of apps (no large games), some photo's, a titanium and nandroid backup; and I've only got 10GB free. On the 8GB model, I would have only had 2GB left.

I guess it depends on what your usage will be.

I agree with rkcj. I got the 8, but should have got the 16. I do have more than a gig free, and don't anticipate problems - but it's reassuring to have wiggle-room in case you need it.

So an official headset has been launched, looks rather good:

Official Nexus 4 wired headset hits the shelves of the Google Play Store

For those of you, looking for headphones for your Google Nexus 4, we have some good news. The official Nexus 4 wired in-ear headphones are now officially available in the Google Play Store.

Sporting a clean design, featuring a flat, tangle-free cable, aluminum backing, and double rubber ear piece, the headset perfectly complements the Nexus 4 looks. A single-button configuration will help you handle phone calls and music tracks.

The Nexus 4 wired headset is priced at the highly-affordable $19.99 in the US Play Store. Its EU price tag is set at €19.99, while UK customers will have to pay £15.99.
