Google Nexus 5

No. I haven't tried plugging it into a PC yet. But, as I understand it, the N5 cannot be used as a normal mass storage device. Plugging it into a PC connects it as an MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) device. To make this work an MTP driver must be installed.

To get the driver you will likely have to download the latest Android SDK.
I get it to work as an MTP, but thats not what I want.

Anyone know where I can get an adapter to fit the charger that comes with the USA version of the phone ?

Easier to get a new charger. I used the charger that I was using for my Note 2.

This is one of the reasons I use Linux. Its plug and play. I couldn't get the drivers to work on Windows.

I found it to be the opposite, actually. Had to install a few drivers to get it working, and even then, copying to it requires a certain finesse. Windows is slower, but more reliable.

Must be me then, I still cannot get the windows machine to "see" the phone as mass storage, but as soon I plug it on my machine running Ubuntu then boom it works fine. Dunno whats up with that. And I didn't download any drivers...

Interesting. Which version of Ubuntu are you running? And don't you have any errors or copy requests "freezing" on you?

Could this be possible? At Jhb already?

Am using Ubuntu 13.10 (latest version). No errors ever. As soon as I plug the phone it is instantly recognised and the mass storage activated. Helps me because I transfer a lot of big files into the phone

Interesting. I'm on 12.04, but I'll have to see which drivers have been updated in the latest repos.
