In anticipation of the announcement of the next Google Nexus phone later this month, I thought I'd start a thread.

Hopefully the thread title will not be wrong in a few weeks time. It is possible that it will be called the Nexus 4 (2013), like they did with the Nexus 7.

Anyway, there is nothing like a MKBHD video to get the thread going.

To sum it up, the expected specifications are

- 4.95-inch 1080p IPS LCD
- Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU (MSM8947) at 2.3GHz
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- Wireless charging
- 8MP rear camera with OIS; 1.3MP front camera
- 2300mAh battery
- Accelerometer; ambient light sensor; Compass; Gyroscope; Proximity; Pressure sensors
- HDMI out via Slimport
- Notification LED
- NFC; Bluetooth 3 (?); A-GPS; 802.11 b/g/n wifi

Who of you are going to upgrade to this?

If given a choice between the Google Play edition Galaxy S4 and the next Nexus phone, which would you choose?

Edit: And here it is

Given the likely huge price difference between the S4ge and the nexus phone range.......it is unlikely that anyone with the resources will not go for the Nexus

I don't expect it to be called Nexus 4 (2013)- the nomenclature will be related to the screen size. So Nexus 5 seems more or less a shoe-in.

I am curious to see if the same sort of screen technology, battery-stacking solution and OIS camera module will be used in the Nexus 5, as used in the LG G2. All three seem to be pretty amazing on the latter device.

If so- well then, it would be very difficult to NOT get one :)

EDIT: Oh, and the Nexus 5 any day of the week. I can't go back to Samsung and closed source drivers. My Nexus 4 has converted me.

Huge price difference?

I must agree though, Nexus 5 anyday. I see Phonearena is hinting that there might be 2 version of the phone:
16GB with a small battery
32GB with a bigger battery

Just announce the thing already!!!

How fast did Esquire start carrying the Nexus 4 after the release?

Also looking forward to this phone!
