Google Nexus 5

So far this year I've had (in this order) an S3, a Nexus 4, an S4, got an iPhone 5 at the moment and on Saturday I'm getting a Nexus 5 from the UK

I'm definitely going to keep this one for a while :p

But I think I'm just going to stick with vanilla android from here on in. I've had a little sabbatical and quite enjoy iOS and love the size of the iPhone, but can't get used to iTunes again on a daily basis for simple things such as downloading a photo on to my works PC.

Nah, I'm missing android too much and can't wait to take a bite out of the kit kat at the weekend

Something else I picked up, this phone's deep sleep is brilliant. Last night I unplugged and 8 hrs later, it lost only 2%. The last time I had that was with the S2 on ICS with Siyah kernel. KitKat is THAT good!

Those were the days... I can do better- lost 0% in 8 hours whilst sleeping :D

(I did cheat slightly- I disable mobile data when I go to bed)

But KitKat's battery life is rather amazing. It makes me wonder how so many reviews claimed the opposite? Only Anandtech really mentioned how good the battery life actually is.

That is great.
/wonders if he unplugged the charger
:D

Usually slower. But the convenience of just putting the phone down and picking it up I would say means you can charge it much more often

Pretty good- certainly comparable to charging with the usual plug socket. Can go from less than half to full in a little over an hour, even with a case on.

Totally agreed. Love how easy it is to just pick it up and go, and the freedom of positioning is also a bonus. I thought that it would be a gimmick, but it really is a useful function.

If you plug in a iPhone to a Windows computer that does not have iTunes, you can just copy photos/videos off the phone without needing iTunes.

I am happy so far

Excellent stats. Have you been a battery nazi or just kind of rolled with the defaults?

:D
All I did was install Greenify and Franco kernel. No UV or UC apart from the stock settings produced by the kernel developer. Admittedly no calls today which will make a difference, but even with calls this setup will produce the same or better stats than my S2. So to all of those worried about battery life, there is hope and plenty of it. If I could run this on ART instead of Dalvik, it could be a bit better. But, running the Xposed framework prevents the phone from running ART.

I get mixed results. One day I would end the day (22:00) at 30%, the next day the battery is dead at 21:00. I do think my phone tends to switch between the two Wifi APs I have in my house which I guess could make a difference.

My phone is at Heathrow and heading towards my sweaty hands tomorrow :) :) :)

My mate never managed to get a case though, so without searching back through the thread, any recommendations for a decent one? I like the type that fold over like a book cover but without replacing the back cover a la Galaxy style, I think it might be a bit bulky. Any decent ones about?
