Google Nexus 7 SA pricing comparison

I still cannot understand why they didn't include 3g support, maybe someone can explain that to me :(

To be able to offer it for $199 and not $249? I think price was the main consideration. Duh.

I really don't need 3G for my tablet, as I will use it at home & at work, where we have wifi access. Or I just take my 3G router with my Nexus 7. No problem.

Maybe I should invest in a router for my car, in which case I'll be connected whereva! :D

I mean that is the ONLY reason why I am not that interested because I need to be able to check mail when not at home or office where I have wifi.

Main reason, US/UK people's have lots of free Wifi EVERYWHERE! Hence they don't really care that much, and it saves some cost.

If not, you can tether to your phone with wifi to check your mail, then switch off when you done.

This will be handy for me as I can use it when travelling. Wifi at most airports and hotels / B&Bs. No need for 3G

Use phone as hotspot which helps with cost/data management as it is off one account/sim.

You get those small mifi routers, work a treat.
+1
I picked up a couple on BoB auctions for under R250 each. One worked with my temperamental K3565z modem. Modem and router together are smaller than a packet of cigarettes, so very easy to carry around. Unfortunately, mifi routers with a built-in 3g card are still a bit expensive.

They don't really. There is wifi but only in coffee shops etc like here. Its only free if you are a subcriber to certain services like Boingo or T-mobile etc. But its definitely not the free for all people think it is that haven't been there yet.

Rather get a mifi router then. Sorted.

This. But if the device supported 3G, you could just get a second data SIM and let them both eat from the same bundle. Helps a bit with battery life as well on the phone if it does not need to be in hot-spot mode all the time.

I know this is a slightly old thread but does anyone know when about the Nexus 7 will officially release here?

So far, there has been no indication that it will even officially launch at all. If you badly want one, I suggest you get it from Kalahari.net @ R3500 (16GB version).

Bought mine for R3000 from a friend in SA
Worth every cent even at R3500.
I had the Galaxy Tab 7 and this is in a completely different league.
Also own the HTC One X but am always on the Tab except when I'm away from wireless or on the phone.
However nothing beats the awesome One X screen :)

Hey Mike, did you get the Xbox controller to work?

Not yet dude. Got a pile of coding to get done by tomorrow night cause we are leaving early Fri AM to go on holiday.
The XBox Controller task is one of the goodies I will play with while on holiday :)
