Google Nexus 7 tablet announced

You can add me to this list as well. Disappointed at the moment :(

I wonder if we will get books and music more than the tablet. Cause 2 of the features demoed will kind of cripple the device for us, well actually movies and TV as well but I can understand us not getting those.

The new Magazines would be great for local publishers also like the new find my song build directly into the OS will kind of suck if can not get access to the market to acquire them

Meh. It's a nice tablet and all, but I really can't see myself using a seven inch tablet. Bringing in a ten inch for 300 Dorras, well that would be another story (and something Asus would def not do).

7" is actually perfect for mobile use. Easy to carry and use anywhere without attracting attention. 10" is better for home-only use.

I prefer 7" for reading on, definitely. Especially if it has a high-PPI display. It's like holding a paperback vs a broadsheet.

Finally a great tablet with vanilla android and a good hardware manufacturer with a great pricepoint. This is available in the Google Play store for purchase.

You sound like one of those cellphone adverts in the paper from the 1990's, going on about Tri-band, GSM, Mhz, GHz and other waffle. :)
It has a better display, which might enhance the user experience. But I wonder if the people that are buying the lower end devices care...? And it lacks the deep integration with the Amazon content services, which make the Kindle Fire stand out.

On the plus side, it's good to see 4.1 fix many of the lag issues

LOL, hey no one is stopping you from making friends with someone in the US.

I was planning to the the Nexus Q as well, then I saw this http://i.imgur.com/aokZf.png and changed my mind.
(real reason is the lack of streaming from other sources)

I actually already have a friend from the US...but he is based here now for work and only goes back every now and then.

/goes looking for American BF online

I read somewhere that the Nexus 7 has a IPS screen

Display: 800 x 1280 pixels, 7.0 inches (~216 ppi pixel density)

Surely 216 aint IPS? I thought IPS is basically Retina quality...or am I understanding it wrong???

You're confusing IPS and Retina.
IPS is In-Plane Switching, which relates to viewing angle.
Retina is a function of Pixels per inch and viewing distance

No IPS is the display type not pixel quantity, think view angles when you see IPS, and yes iPad has it as well.

Ok. It's going to be much faster, better built, prettier and the software will be better. Is that 'user experiencey' enough for you?

I gave up when he mentioned Amazon integration, esp seeing that Nexus 7 will be able access Amazon store + Play store, but Amazon tablets only have access to Amazon Store.
