Google Nexus 9

USB OTG my friend..

I'm seriously considering putting this on my Christmas wishlist..

Why can't they just make a tablet that is of adequate storage capacity? 64GB and more should be there. Hell, if Apple can do it, so should they.

That being said- I'd really love to own one of these.

What's the battery life? Will it match my ipad..this is the deciding factor.

I honestly don't even mind, with OTG you can connect your hard drives but the disadvantage would be that you could not do this while on the move.. Plus the price will shoot up if storage becomes larger.

True. USB OTG isn't the end of the world if one really runs out of the 32GB, especially with multiple flash drives.

So the reviews look pretty polarising- many complaining about the performance and build quality, while others have praised those aspects.

Guess I'll wait for the Anandtech review before drawing up an opinion on it.

The performance issue seemed to have been fixed with an early update. Personally I think it looks nice but it's no Air2.

So, reading through all of these reviews, it's insane as to how different the opinions all are. My only assertion as to why is that these were all pre-release versions of the device- hence the wildly varying quality control issues that the different reviewers mention.

If so, that's a pretty bone-headed move by Google in handing basically beta software and hardware out for review. They could have rather delayed the review cycle by a week and shipped production-spec tablets.

I mean, really. We can't have one place saying this:

The build quality is impeccable. Gorilla Glass 3 covers the front of the Nexus 9, while its back features the same soft-touch plastic as the one found in the Nexus 7 (2013). Not only does the metal frame look great, but it provides extra rigidity and further assures the user that this is a high-quality product.
We can't say we're surprised by the stellar build. HTC has a long track record of superb finish to its devices and the Nexus 9 is no exception - it is ready to meet the expectations of even the most discerning user.

and another saying this:

I wouldn't harp on it so much if the Nexus 9 was a little cheaper, but it isn't. At $400, it's basically positioning itself smack in the middle of iPad Air gen-one territory, and that's not a battle it's going to win on the quality or design front, not even close. Even its Android foes, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and Samsung's Tab S 8.4, aren't going to blink at the Nexus 9 from a quality standpoint. It is an utterly forgettable part of this device. Then again, it's a Nexus, and premium quality has never been a hallmark of the Nexus line.
