Google patches Android lock screen bypass

Cybersecurity researcher David Schütz unintentionally found a method to bypass the lock screen on Android phones, Bleeping Computer reports.

He tested the bypass on his up-to-date Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 5 smartphones and found that anyone with physical access could get past the lock screen.

Would be cool if MyBB could test this with handsets from other brands in your lab!

I don't understand the use of all the security when it can be easily bypassed with commercial software like this:

Same goes for iPhones as well.

Would really appreciate a little peace of mind that the data is not compromised when a phone is lost or stolen.

They only had that one issue with Face ID, right? And it was a while back so it doesn’t really count

Sort of. Some people who are twins, or looked almost identical to their sibling / family member, could in some cases unlock the persons iPhone.

But I have not heard anything recently, it's been super solid. Unlike Samsung's attempt at it, where it could be unlocked with a photo...

Don't the Samsungs need a blink though ?

I feel anythin can be fooled - here's trying to fool the iPhone system and getting it right

And here's the real world error with a mom & her son

I think everyone just wants to forget anything happened though and stick to 100% secure

Nothing is 100% secure. But two things from those articles

1. iPhone X was the first Face ID on iPhone. the newer models are a lot better
2. 3D printing a mask to fool a biometric on a cell phone, is hardly "every day" risk the average person has.

The iPhone needs eyes to be open and for you to be looking at the device. I'm not sure on what the requirements are on Samsung.

Ah - so we'll just ignore that then !

I mean, if someone prints a 3D mask of my face to get into my phone; I think I have bigger issues in life lol
