Google Pixel 4 & 4 XL

Its abit meh, not jumping to preorder.
Ill wait for the black friday specials.

Thanks Google for not making a curved screen. Can't wait to get my hands on both models.

Not sure what to make of this. I want to go back to a Pixel for my next phone, but those specs don't really have me feeling like I want to shell out 700 - 900 euros for a phone

Really dont know why these phones have such a big bezel on the top - i cant bring myself to buy one because of that alone

Best buy has pre order specials. Google will also run a decent special on black Friday.

It's really not that bad. Each time I use my Pixel 2XL the bezel doesn't bother me at all. The notch on the 3XL is on another level though. Each time I use my wife's 3XL (to take pics) I realize how intrusive it is. However, when I used it I got used to it quickly. Quite sad that I grab my wife's pixel each time to take a pic. The OP7 pro camera is just meh.

Need a pixel again and since the displays are 90hz, I'll easily be able to move from my OP7 pro.

Most disappointing Pixel yet. Google becoming the new Apple.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is much cheaper, better screen, faster CPU and better camera. Their pretty much have a vanilla Android experience, and their software updates are pretty damn impressive.

Have you ever used a pixel?

Better camera? Lol

Not a very secure phone, the way Google have implemented Face Unlock means a person can unlock your phone by holding it to your face, even when you're asleep. There is no "eyes open" mode for additional security.

Using the default settings, the phone still unlocked if the user pretended to be asleep.

The test was repeated on several people, with the same result.

Images of the Pixel 4 leaked before launch showed a setting labelled: "Require eyes to be open," in the facial-recognition menu.

However, this setting was not present on the devices loaned to BBC News.

And Google told BBC News it would not feature on the Pixel 4 when it went on sale, on 24 October.

"If someone can unlock your phone while you're asleep, it's a big security problem," said cyber-security expert Graham Cluley.

"Someone unauthorised - a child or partner? - could unlock the phone without your permission by putting it in front of your face while you're asleep," he told BBC News.

Apparently not a fault either, Google make that warning on the Pixel webpage.

  • Your phone can also be unlocked by someone else if it’s held up to your face, even if your eyes are closed. Keep your phone in a safe place, like your front pocket or handbag. To prepare for unsafe situations, learn how to turn on lockdown.

Pixel 4 review looking rather bleak:
No, I don’t think the Pixel 4 is priced fairly. The Pixel 4 starts at $799 and you only get 64GB storage without a SD card slot, 6GB RAM, no wide-angle camera, a tiny battery, no audio accessories, and no fingerprint reader. At a time where people are hanging onto phones for longer and longer periods of time (more than 2 years), that’s not enough storage, it might not be enough RAM, there’s not as much flexibility in the camera as others have, and that battery is never going to cut it.

We’re getting phones from everyone else at similar (or sometimes lower) prices and they all feature more than Google’s Pixel 4. Sure, you get the promise of fast updates and the Google software experience we love, but is that worth the price for all these cuts and half-baked features? Eh.

The Pixel 4 could be the worst phone of 2019;

The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL are the phones with the worst value in the mobile industry right now. Anyone that pre-orders these two flagships or buys them full-price within the first month of their availability will be shooting themselves in the figurative foot.

Google's Pixel 4 and 4 XL fail to entice and don't offer consumers any justifiable reasons to drop $799 or more. With not enough storage, a redundant telephoto camera, and a misunderstood identity, the Pixel 4 will probably struggle to succeed.

I just got my Pixel 4 via Black Friday $200 off. It's actually a lovely phone and a big upgrade on my old Pixel 1.

Downsides: No motion sense in SA. FNB biometric doesn't work with face sense.

How's the battery life? That seems to be the biggest issue people are having with it.
