I have always wanted to try out pixel devices.
Have an opportunity to get a pixel 3 xl. I have only ever had samsung. Any peeps on here that have owned a google device

2 main reasons - quick and frequent updates and the camera.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

I recently got a Pixel 2XL in December. No going back to any other brand. Just wish they had support locally.

The camera is epic. Updates happen every month.

Nokia's updates are also excellent, and local support here.

Gone through a few and Nexus before it. Generally you find once a person has used a pixel they wont go back to any other phone. Just a mission to get them.

I had a Pixel 1, and now a Pixel 3.
No issues with the Pixel 1 (got it for 2 years now).
One issue with the Pixel 3 - sometimes incoming and outgoing calls take a while to connect.
Google replaced my original Pixel 3, but still having issues with the replacement. Note, this is on MTN.
MTN is still trying to assist with this issue.

Pixel 1 is on Android 10 beta, and Pixel 3 on Android 9.

Overall, excellent devices and I'm happy with my Pixels.

Android Stock is pretty good as well, Google Pixel I only see the camera as the reason to truly pick them over other Android One devices? Any other reasons?

Having stock Andriod is 98% there, long as you get the instant updates like the pixels do. Otherwise pixels have some small non stock features but nothing groundbreaking, well accept maybe night sight.

But yeah if I couldn't get a Pixel, Nokia would definitely be my next stop.

I got my Google Camera port, I have the Night Sight. :p

Updates are usually about a month behind official release, e.g. May update arrived on like the 30th I think (Telkom), Nokia released 28th.
Note sure what June is going to be like yet, but based on history about 9/10 days from now.

Nokia 5 and 6 supposedly have the June patch released a couple of days ago, two weeks after Google announcement, and 8 is having its release today. List here: https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/security-updates and for my phone they seem to be releasing security patches within the same month. Better than my sis' Samsung, that one she got the March update this month, but think it got pushed back due to P release (yes, that far behind).

Nokia is doing great work, Motorola too. I wish that more manufacturers would use more of a stock android but for the bigger players they want to market an imagine hence horrible skins and duplicated apps.

I really wish that Essential had a better launch into the market, they really had the right idea.

Get the Pixel you will not regret it!

Own a Pixel (thanks to MYBB) and a Nokia only reason i got a Nokia is it's the closest thing to the pixel available locally.
You can't go wrong Stock Android is just so much better - can't go back to a Samsung phone (or any non stock Android for that matter) after the experience - you realise how much their bloat just messes with the phone.
