I'm considering getting a Pixel (either the 6, when it is released or a 5/5a).

Does the eSim work on Vodacom/MTN, and will are both eSim and Nanosim active simultaneously (similar to normal dual sim).

Not sure about Dual standby, but Vodacom only supports Apple Watch for eSIM, MTN requires a contract. Telekom does prepaid but only supports a small selection of phones.

Cell C does prepaid eSIM nowadays as well.
