Google Public DNS...?

They say google can record everything you do on the net with the DNS. But so can your isp too then. So I would rather trust google than my ISP I guess.

Using it and loving it far better than OpenDNS!

I've just changed my networks settings now to use the Google public DNS. Will see if it has a better effect on a network of 30-40 users now, but so far so good!

Been using it since it opened up, no problems and had my mud game server ip updated.. opendns still had the old one/not updated

Basically when OpenDns can not find a specific website etc, it redirects you to a tweaked advertising page of theres. Which is in fact highly annoying. With google there is no such thing!

aaah okay, will stick with Google as a test for now...1st time I have heard of public or open DNS servers :o:(

I'd stay away from internationally-run DNS servers like Google or OpenDNS at this point, because they do not take your location into account when resolving, so services which may be mirrored locally (such as any AKAMAI-hosted website) will end up going through your international bandwidth and of course be slower
