So I've been annoyed for a while that my news feeds consist many of rubbish interspersed with occasional pieces of actual news & even wanted to write an app to filter it.
Found a greasemonkey script that does the same thing.
Alternatives are feedrinse.com and yahoo pipes...but those didn't quite work out for me (feedrinse is excellent but has some sort of limit on the number of filters I think...or its a glitch).
Note: It supports regex (Haven't tried that). I found though that it is super sensitive. e.g. "GM crop" won't catch "GM crops".
Thought it might lower someone else's blood-pressure too, hence post.
