Sediment filter for borehole water?

Hey guys

I had a borehole done awhile ago, however, the problem is, the water has a lot of fine 'dust' in it.

I assume it is from the drilling through the rocks that leeches into the water over time. It is quite noticeable, i.e. the water coming out has a 'silver/grey' appearance, you can smell the 'dust-smell' when hold the water at your nose etc. Sometimes I get a layer of water where it becomes clear, however, there might still be dissolved dust in it.

I am thinking of getting a sediment filter, since at the end of the day I would like to use the water for washing and bathing.

Any suggestions for sediment filters that won't cost an arm or a leg?

Replacement cartridge also doesn't seem too expensive, however, don't know how long it will last before replacement:

I'm using a 3 stage big blue with UV for municipal backup. Also goes down to 1 micron. With a UV sterilizer to make double sure. It's probably overkill for me, but should be fine as a prefilter for a borehole...

I am thinking of getting a sediment filter, since at the end of the day I would like to use the water for washing and bathing.

Nope, just for washing and bathing. But, maybe testing it won't be a bad idea.

We have the same but treatment of borehole water often includes a lot more depending on mineral and contaminant content. My inlaws live on an estate that only uses borehole water for the houses, it is pretreated before it reaches the house but they still have 'big blue' filters, a water softener and for drinking water a 5 stage reverse osmosis filter system.

We have the same but treatment of borehole water often includes a lot more depending on mineral and contaminant content. My inlaws live on an estate that only uses borehole water for the houses, it is pretreated before it reaches the house but they still have 'big blue' filters, a water softener and for drinking water a 5 stage reverse osmosis filter system.

Definitely, which is why I said it should be used as a pre-filter. It's fine for municipal, but not on its own for a borehole...

Uncle has a borehole and he uses a big blue for all cold water, and then in the kitchen there is a drinking water spout that goes through another 4 stage filter. Hot water goes straight from borehole to gas geyser.
Testing shows that Aluminium levels to be higher than tap water but below dangerous levels.
