Is anybody else having this issue?

When I do a Google search it opens up fine the first time, but when then clicking to go to the next page it takes forever to load, if at all. This also happens on Adsense, Analytics, Gmail or even normal sites that are loading the Analytics script for tracking.

It seems not to be happening on IE (please don't make me use it!)

I'm on ADSL 512.

Hmm... could it be? I used to use a Netgear DG632 ADSL Modem/Router. Yesterday I changed to a D-Link DSL-2650U and all my issues stopped. I have no idea why though... might just have been a setting on the old modem, or a glitch, but everything works fine every time on Google now!

This one (below) is solving the issue for everybody it seems! Thanx ixian!

I had the same problem for ages and it drove me nuts. Eventually I spoke to a technician at Mweb that understood what I was saying and did not repeatedly ask me to clear my cache etc, etc.

In Firefox go to Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network Settings >> select manual proxy configurations and enter this HTTP proxy: dsl-cache.saix.net (Port 8080), select: Use proxy server for all protocols. Restart Firefox after making the changes

It works for me.

Hope this helps you. :)

I'm also having this problem, Gmail sometimes won't load. I'll have to refresh a couple of times or just close the tab and try again before it will log in. Even logging off is a mission.

On saix (telkom).

It's getting damn irritating

I'm not alone!!! I've formatted now, installed Win 7 (amazing btw) and the problem persists.

EXACTLY the same problem here.

Running Firefox 3.1 beta 4 on Windows 7 *x64* with Telkom as my ISP!

I have also got exactly the same problem. I have been avoiding solving this, but am getting really frustrated with the terrible google response after the initial fast load of the site. For a quick fix I go to another google site such as google.co.uk and then I can search fast for one time again before something goes wrong. I am leaving Firefox for a while, dont know what to resort to though...

Google slow in Firefox (Win 7, 512 Mweb ADSL, Netgear Router)

Yup, precisely my prob. Be it google docs, search, gmail or analytics. The initial load is fast, then anything after that takes FOREVER.

What's everybody's internet connection here + ISP?

Mine's: 512 adsl, Netgear modem/router, Mweb ISP (not my 1st choice), Firefox 3.5, Windows 7
Oh yes, and I check my gmail with Windows Live Mail. (that also gives an error with the initial check, then works after that)

Wonder if we'll get a common denominator other than "we live in South Africa".

What to resort to?
* Google chrome gives the same issue it seems.
* Opera doesn't (I could be wrong) - it's a good browser.
* There's also the brand new Safari - not bad at all.
* Conclusion: Anything but friggin IE

I have the same problem, even more so if i use the search from within the firefox toolbar.

Weird. No problems here.

If you know your way around wireshark fire it up and check the packets. Might give some insight as to where the delay is occuring?

Does it only occur of FF? Have you tried Chrome?

Chrome is fine ... it is just in firefox, and at work as well ... maybe i should do a routert.

I've had the same problem for 3 months now, been on the phone to telkom numerous times ( 0800 375375 / 10215 ). They offered me proxy workarounds but it has not improved that significantly. Friday I they finally suggested that i phone SAIX directly as the problem seems to be with them.
