Google Street View takes viewers inside shops

While i am happy about the advancement, won't this make the owner's place(s) easier to target for criminals and no need for blueprints and such O_O?

What you folks think?

Why would this make them easier to target?

Its a static image of a public place....

Its the same as someone taking a picture with their phone camera, i mean you would know where the teller / sales / till is etc.

Sure this will bring many customers....but at what cost :(.

Edit: here is the link the article didn't feature :p

Google businessphotos

You tell me that aint asking for trouble O_O.

I thought it was static too but they offering 360 degree view.

Edit3: perhaps i am being over paranoid but they don't show in the big shops exposing points for tills etc however smaller shops will be hard to hide :/.

Google will take over the world so it has begun :D

I really think you're being massively over paranoid..

This is no more risky than me walking into the shop, memorising the layout and then going off to tell my friend the criminal.

You right, watching too much of T.V can do this to ye :p and living in South Africa :(.

So question is, will alot of S.A businesses use this type of methodology for advertising their business?

@B.O.F.H.

your point would be along the same lines as " I really dont understand why some ppl put barbed wire around thier yard"

I first need Google to update the Streeview picture of my premsis before going the the inside of the shop. The picture online at present is one of the building in complete disarray prior to my occupation of the building. I would not want that picture to be the one potential customers look at when looking up my address.

Ummm, completely different...

MY yard is a private space.. a shop is a public space.

True, your personal security in your private environment is not the same as a shop’s public’s security in a public place. :)

Ok.. why do people have such a problem grasping that this is not a massive "NEW" security threat to shops...

Its just another way people can see inside the shop.... if someone WANTS to rob a shop, having or not having these photos of the inside will make no difference.

I can understand we live in a paranoid society in SA, but this paranoia seems to be breeding to a whole new level.

It’s difficult to distinguish between tech advisements that benefit our existence and advancements that don’t. Unfortunately advancements by definition mean we are moving forward regardless, i guess it becomes each person’s personal decision weather to keep up or fall behind.

So will Teazers get first preference to this new tech?

Im already blown away by street view so this is just another great innovation.

if i wanted to rob a shop, i'd case the joint first, and slip the assitant R1000 to turn a blind eye or leave the back door open.
or if i was in south africa, i'd just stroll in at noon with a bunch of my buddies, makarov's in hand and shoot everybody to bits.
i probably wouldn't sit around on google street view all day (assuming i had access to the internet).
