Google to unveil PC

That is an old rumour from a couple of days ago that Google has very strongly denied and so has Walmart

antowan : There are so many rumours about Google and only a couple have proved to be real. The GoogleOS that people have been punting for years, Online AJAXified StarOffice, etc. Nothing have come from these rumours. Google will not want to get into the low-margin PC business. There is no money to be made there

It probably has something to do with the frightening number of top OS designers that Google does employ.

Well, from where I stand it would make very good sense for Google to venture into something novell like this. Think about it for a second. Google does the IPO, gets tons of cash, for what? I believe it is for getting its own grid going. They have a solid search business going that AFAIK has got zero debt. Why then the IPO if not to garner funds for physical expansion into other ventures. What are they good at? They are good at providing people with net delivered content. I honestly think it is a matter of time before they start doing this. :) Maybe not tomorrow, but soon...

Not a PC but apparently pay for video downloads and also a free software package of sorts consisting of branded Firefox browser, Google Toolbar/Talk/Desktop Search/Picasa and Norton Antivirus.

Guess we will see tomorrow.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google Inc is to allow users of its site to buy videos from content partners in an upgrade to its video-search service, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The newspaper said Google will announce its plans to allow consumers to buy television shows or other videos that can be downloaded onto their computers at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Friday.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal said Google is likely to unveil partnerships related to the new service with CBS Corp. and the National Basketball Association.

The report also said Google planned to introduce a software package with offerings from Google and other companies that users can download and put on their computers. The Wall Street Journal said the bundle is to be called Google Pack.

A representative for Google could not immediately be reached for comment.
