The problem is with underlying Google Play Services. Things like Uber and The Entertainer rely on this :/
Losing Uber would be sad :/

I think you can still use it, but you have to specify pickup address, it doesn't work with location based services.Losing Uber would be sad :/
They should. They don't receive any royalties from people sideloading on an unlicensed system.I bet they're just covering their bases from a legal standpoint - they don't/shouldn't care that Huawei users sideload GAPPS.

Yea Uber is tough - I could enter a location (Where to) but difficult to enter my pick up address as lots of blank spaces. The problem is with underlying Google Play Services. Things like Uber and The Entertainer rely on this :/

Installing apps not through the Play Store but installers rather.First, what is sideloading?
Second, as much as I hate apps that try to have my location all the time, the ones I do use that need it are google maps, waze and uber. And maybe bottle in the future![]()

Looks like Google is trying to get their software back on Huawei phones.

Google has some really draconian agendas these days.I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Huawei just launched some epic upgraded Matebook laptops. They all have either Intel or AMD CPUs, Windows and MS Office pre-installed.
Google obviously just has a tiny, soft penis![]()
The greater risk is that other software partners start to look at leaving the Google fold. Can you imagine losing so much revenue, because one man said so ?
I heard Google get $20-$40 per device licensing and on 200 million per year, that's quite a loss for Google. Aside from that, quite a large percentage may cancel other subscriptions they have (extra cloud storage or YT Music). I've canned my YT Music because I can't it on my M30P ... so and Spotify gained a subscriber.
They can't warn the world to do anything. There is no such thing as a world-wide law.
They act as if their laws are all there is.Someone should tell the USA.
They act as if their laws are all there is.
Far from it.
Yes just imagine a Xiaomi costing R300-R600 less. The greater risk is that other software partners start to look at leaving the Google fold.
Look at what you are doing with your MP 30. If that works then maybe other suppliers will wonder about the importance of Google.
The irony is that if that happens then Google / the US Gov loose even more intel capability.
And they're getting pretty close to transgressing international law and interfering in sovereign affairs. The Huawei affair is proof that the USA expects its laws to be enforced worldwide.

The US trade ban against Huawei has forced the manufacturer to ditch Google apps on new phone models, but it’s also affected the brand’s computer business. The trade ban meant that Huawei couldn’t pre-load Windows and other Microsoft software on its Matebook laptops and hybrid devices.
Fortunately, Microsoft has now confirmed to Reuters that the US Department of Commerce has approved its application to export “mass-market software” to Huawei.
“On November 20, the U.S. Department of Commerce granted Microsoft’s request for a license to export mass-market software to Huawei. We appreciate the Department’s action in response to our request,” a Microsoft representative told the newswire in an emailed statement.
Google have also been requesting this, but obviously not with as much success as Microsoft. It seems like Microsoft are more proactive than Google and got a licence to trade with Huawei relating to consumer software long before Google thought of doing anything.

Confirmed: HUAWEI can once again use Microsoft software
Microsoft has confirmed that it's received approval from the US government to export its software to HUAWEI, opening the door for revitalized Matebook PCs.www.androidauthority.com

Hence my comments.
