So, you've all seen the Adverts, everywhere on the web.

I actually got one!

And all I can say, is that it is AMAZING!!
Love it in everyway!

Ok, well most of you would've noticed by now, that I'm addicted to extreme sports, such as Surfing and Bodyboarding.

Here is some frame grabs of some video footage I took:

Here is a normal picture, taken with it. (It films at 1080p and takes 5mp Photos)

The thing that I would say is the coolest feature about it, is the Fish-Eye lens. Gotta love that 170 degree view!

So anyone else got them?

Post your videos and photos!

Hey dude, it's always nice slipping on the gopro when doing ossum stuff.

My mate got himself the surf hero a few years back and it's filmed some awesome footage when we go longboarding and rock jumping.

I'm planning on getting myself one for diving, but I'll have to get a different casing because the fish-eye lens doesn't work so well underwater. :/ The only other issue for permanent underwater usage is that in photo mode, the flashing LED buggers up the photo as it reflects on the casing.

You should look at getting some anti-fog inserts for your casing. It'll help a lot to maintain clarity.

Here's a pod of dolphins he recorded passing us:

Yes indeed!
I found a trick that works for now, till I finally get in Durban to buy those anti-foggers.

What I do, is keep the whole housing open like right infront an aircon to allow cool, dry air to blow in. In that way something scientifically happend but it stops it from fogging up.

But yesterday I forgot to do it, then I it fogged up like mad! Footage ended up completely ruined!

Otherwise, I'm very stokked with it! Proud owner of the GoPro HD Hero.

I mostly film at 720p @ 60fps. Allows me to slow down my footage.

The only difference its that the lens in front is flat.
Some of my mates have these housings. They attached their cameras on Spear-Guns then they film while hunting fish. It proves how versatile these little camera's are!

Still waiting to hear what the problem is and to see if it was me or just damn bad luck.

I'm going Scuba diving at Sodwana in December and I'd kill to have a halfway decent underwater cam. I've been looking at a lot of options, most which end up being rather costly because I don't want a little baby P&S cam in a 10m housing. I'm more keen on photography than videography but looking at the stills captured from the GoPro cams or pulled from videos I would be quite happy with that quality.

Which GoPro would you guys recommend? And which mount would you recommend for Scuba Diving? I'm thinking the wrist mount would probably be best since we don't dive with helmets, but maybe a head mount is better since it's better lined up with what I'm looking at whereas a wrist mount would record endless hours of my hands moving around?

We'll be diving to 30m so I need a fairly deep-water housing. Also, would you recommend an add-on battery pack or the LCD add-on? Obviously the one provides longer recording time while the other drains the existing battery. As a diver and photographer I like to see what I'm photographing, but a dive trip can be over an hour long so extra battery would be great.

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Basically any GoPro (with water housing of course) would be great. But you will need to purchase an after-market flat lens, as the fish-eye on the standard housing makes the images very soft underwater.

GoPro HD Hero2 or even the regular 1080p would be good, as it supports the LCD + Battery pack add-ons.

With my GoPro, I get about 3 hours life from the battery, filming in 720p video without an LCD or Extra Battery Pack.

Enjoy.
