Dr Gordon Mayhew-Ridgers is a Principal Engineer within Vodacom’s Radio Engineering Section. He holds a Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pretoria and is registered as a Professional Engineer in South Africa. He has been with Vodacom for more than thirteen years, where his work deals with various aspects of RF engineering. Among other things, he is currently involved with the development of special coverage solutions, the evaluation of new antennas and the upgrading of an RF test lab to measure the near fields of base-station antennas. He still has some university ties and also contributes to technical conferences from time to time. He has been married for almost 16 years. In his free time he participates in road races and mountain biking, while he also does oil painting and likes reading.
