gorilla glass

i got my s2 last week and it fell out of my hand and onto the floor this weekend and the gorilla glass cracked, is this glass not soppose to be thouhened, why did it break so easilly

Its tough glass, but its still glass. Its not transparent steel like some people think.

Its main strengths are in scratch resistance, drop it on a corner and it will still crack.

Its resistant to scratches. Depending how you dropped it, it may or may not break - in your case, it broke.

Yep .

However, my phone has fallen because other people have dropped it.

It looks to me as though if your phone lands face first - all is well, because the glass can flex and absorb the impact,

if it lands on the corner from any where below a meter, the impact isn't high enough to cause damage.

However, seeing as I'm a tall guy, when the phone went diving from my pocket, (over a meter... and hoody pocket), it shatters .

Crazy expensive, if you have insurance simply take it to a repair center and they will give you a Beyond Economical Repair form for insurance, cost you about R100 and then insurance will pay out.

Happened to my iphone once and it was literally cheaper to buy a new phone than to replace the screen, same thing with a friends HTC <something>.

Buy a new screen of ebay and replace it yourself. You should get away with under R500

More than it would cost to replace it. It being the entire phone.
