Got batteries, want light

A friend of mine resorts to candles every time eskom fukks us.


I have a pair of 12v 35AH batteries with their charger etc (a self contained unit)
What kind of lighting can be connected to these batteries without the high amp rating setting fire to the neighborhood ?
 
really any 12V rated item that draws less than the output rating, that said, the lower consumption the better on the batteries and the longer it would last. i would probably look to get some small 12v led's, how big of an area are you looking to light? and is the output 12v or 24v?

Which one do you recommend. Im going to tmrw to get some lights, for now. If this continues any longer, i need to get a full setup, it is becoming ridiculous. Clown Country.

Ultratec is the best. Have mine for years now, no problem. I bought mine a few years before the 2015 Loadshedding, on special for R149. Won't get them for that price any more.
Two in a bag, like this : LINK (R699 Cape Union Mart)
Might get it cheaper somewhere else. About 50hr on a charge.

Try to change the battery on the Ultratec without cracking a clip of the clear cover... ;)

The Magneto is much easier to replace the battery. Anyway, I use the Ultratecs inside the house, on the 4 LED flashlight mode. The Magnetos I hang up outside the house strategically, on full brightness for a normal loadshed. Haven't had more issues with the Magnetos than the Ultratecs.

So far my only complaint with the Magneto's is they're almost too bright on the auto mode. I understand why you'd use them outdoors.

Luckily never needed to replace the batteries, yet. In the years where there was no load shedding, I followed the instructions and plugged them in, every 3 or 4 months for a full discharge and full charge. That might be the reason for my batteries longevity. I have another light, those ones with the two short fluorescent tubes, they sold at Midas back in the day. I replace that ones battery a few times. About R80 a battery.

Have 4 of those, wish I could figure out (I could, but time) how to make it LED, either LED strip or a LED tube swapout.
 
my ultratec going almost 5 years strong. and i have opened it before after dropping it without breaking a clip.

Now try opening 6 in a row lol.

All were bought on great specials (50% off, after long non loadshedding periods), so I think their batteries died "early" because they were not maintained while they were in the retail process.
